A food delivery rider was killed after being struck by a speeding car allegedly driven by an intoxicated young man in the Defence Khayaban-e-Ittehad area of Karachi. The incident occurred February 23.
According to eyewitnesses, the car went out of control due to excessive speed, first hitting the footpath before overturning onto the road.
During the chaos, a motorcyclist working as a food delivery rider was caught in the vehicle’s path. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Police said the young men traveling in the car were taken into custody following the accident.
Initial reports suggested that the suspect was not formally presented for several hours. However, later the Sahil police station confirmed that a man identified as Asghar Ali Bangwar had been shifted to the station under protocol.

Following the incident, various claims circulated on social media alleging that the young man involved in the accident was the nephew of well-known Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bangwar.
In a video statement, Hazim Bangwar denied the claim, stating that he does not have a nephew and has no connection to the individual being linked to him.
He clarified that he has one brother and one sister, both of whom are unmarried, and suggested that the confusion may have arisen due to the similarity in name.
He added that it could be someone else with the surname Bangwar.
