Progress has been made regarding the eye treatment of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan.
According to sources, an ambulance from Holy Family Hospital arrived at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, equipped with medical staff and the necessary equipment.
A private television channel reported that the ambulance entered through Gate No. 5 of the prison. Strict security arrangements were put in place in and around the jail, with additional personnel deployed and entry and exit points placed under close surveillance.
Sources said the ambulance carried specialised equipment for an eye examination, while members of a medical board constituted on the instructions of the federal government were also reaching the site. It is understood that Mr Khan will first undergo a detailed assessment, after which a decision will be taken on whether he needs to be transferred to hospital.
The government had formed a medical board comprising two specialist doctors from Al-Shifa Eye Hospital to conduct a comprehensive review of his eye condition. Further developments are expected once the board submits its preliminary report.
It is worth noting that an opposition alliance had earlier expressed concern over Mr Khan’s health and called for his immediate transfer to hospital. Opposition parties also warned that if he was not moved for treatment, they would stage a protest at Parliament House.
