The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) maintained a stable trajectory in early Friday trading, with the interbank and open markets showing minimal volatility across major global currencies.
As of 9:00 AM PST, the US dollar was quoted at 279.55 for buying and 280.05 for selling in the interbank market. The open market reflected a slightly higher premium, with the greenback being traded at 280.60 (buying) and 282.25 (selling).
Interbank vs. Open Market Performance

Middle Eastern currencies, including the Kuwaiti Dinar (selling: 916.40) and Omani Riyal (selling: 737.26), remain the strongest in the open market due to their high intrinsic value.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Yen continues to be the most affordable major currency, trading at 1.84 in the interbank session.
As the day progresses, market participants will be keeping a close eye on global oil prices and any further updates on external debt repayments, which could influence the rupee’s closing position for the week.
