The issue of surplus employees in various sections of the Customs Department has prompted action from the headquarters, which has directed the transfer of surplus staff to other departments and offices.
According to Customs officials, non-gazetted employees will be posted to departments based on operational requirements. The move aims to address staffing imbalances and ensure better utilisation of human resources.
Officials said that clerical staff, steno typists, drivers and other supporting personnel are among those being transferred under the new directives.
The surplus employees will be posted to areas facing staff shortages in an effort to improve departmental performance and streamline affairs, Customs authorities added.
