The United Arab Emirates has announced official working hours for federal ministries and institutions in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
According to international media reports, government offices will operate from 9:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, working hours will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm during Ramadan.
Reports further state that up to 70 per cent of staff may be permitted to work from home on Fridays, subject to approved federal regulations.
Employees working in shifts will have their schedules determined individually by their respective institutions, based on operational requirements, to ensure both staff convenience and productivity are maintained.
The adjustment in official working hours is aimed at allowing employees additional time for daily prayers, iftar and other religious observances during Ramadan.
