The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set for a major transformation in its 11th edition, with the addition of two new franchises, Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, expanding the competition to eight teams.
In a major shift, the league has replaced its traditional draft system with an auction model, drawing more than 800 local and international players who registered for selection. Each franchise will assemble a squad of 16 to 20 players.

The auction saw several high-profile signings. Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah emerged as one of the costliest buys, joining Rawalpindi for Rs86.5 million, while all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was snapped up by Islamabad United for Rs85 million.

Australia’s David Warner was picked by Karachi Kings for Rs79 million, and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell went to Rawalpindi for Rs80.5 million.
Lahore Qalandars re-signed Fakhar Zaman (Rs79.5m) and Haris Rauf (Rs76m), while Quetta Gladiators secured Khawaja Nafay for Rs65m. Karachi also added T20 captain Salman Ali Agha (Rs58.5m) and Azam Khan (Rs32.5m).

Meanwhile, several notable names, including Imad Wasim and Colin Munro, went unsold. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the ceremony and presented special T20 World Cup 2026 jerseys to franchise owners.
