The Pakistani film industry witnessed a “cinematic storm” last night as the official theatrical trailer for the highly anticipated film “Aag Lagay Basti Mein” (ALBM) was launched at a star-studded event in Karachi.
The event, attended by the city’s elite of the entertainment world, marked the first full look at the project that has been the subject of intense speculation since its cryptic announcement last year.
The highlight of the evening was the presence of the “legendary duo,” Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan.
Reuniting after their previous success, the two showcase a gritty, action-packed “cinematic avatar” that departs from their traditional roles.
In the film, Mustafa and Khan reportedly play working-class characters, cleaners who find themselves entangled in a high-stakes world of crime after a heist goes south.
The trailer hints at a transformation from desperate opportunists to battle-hardened survivors.
Cast and Crew
Directed by Bilal Atif Khan (a protégé of Nabeel Qureshi), the film boasts a powerhouse supporting cast.
Tabish Hashmi is making a significant splash in a seemingly “savage” gangster role. Javed Sheikh is adding veteran gravitas to the narrative.
Ali Kazmi & Irfan Malik are rounding out a cast that promises intense performances.
The trailer sets a frenetic pace, blending sharp, witty dialogues with explosive action sequences.
Described as a crime-action comedy, the story uses a moral fable about greed, the “hen that laid the golden egg,” to frame a modern-day struggle for survival in the shanty towns and warehouses of Karachi.

“Where there is smoke, there is fire. This film is about what happens when the smoke clears and only the chaos remains.”, Fahad Mustafa at the Karachi launch.
