The United States has issued a new security alert related to Pakistan following a deadly suicide bombing in the federal capital, Islamabad.
After the suicide attack in Islamabad, the US State Department released a security advisory urging American citizens travelling to Pakistan to remain cautious.
In its advisory, the State Department advised US nationals to avoid public gatherings and to review their personal security plans.
It is worth mentioning that two days ago, a suicide attack during Friday prayers in the outskirts of Islamabad’s Tarlaai Kalan area killed 33 people and injured more than 150 others.
In late January, the US State Department, in its updated travel advisory for Pakistan on January 26, has told Americans to reconsider traveling to the South Asian country due to terrorism, civil unrest, crime and risk of abduction.
The US State Department warns that potential targets often include transportation centers, hotels, marketplaces, shopping areas, military and security installations, airports, rail systems, educational institutions, hospitals, religious sites, tourist destinations, and government facilities.
