The Deputy Chairman of the ICC, Imran Khawaja, held meetings with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore, discussing the high-profile India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board President, Amin Islam, was also present during the meeting.
According to sources, the ICC Deputy Chairman tried to persuade Pakistan to play the scheduled India match, which Pakistan had previously decided to boycott. However, the outcome of these discussions has not yet been confirmed.
Imran Khawaja was warmly received at the PCB Headquarters at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore, where he exchanged greetings with PCB officials.
Earlier, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had met with Amin Islam, who expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support of Bangladesh in the tournament.
Also present were PSL CEO Salman Naseer and Advisor to the Chairman Aamir Mir. The India-Pakistan match remains scheduled for 15 February, though Pakistan has so far maintained its boycott decision.
