India has secured the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 title for a record-extending sixth time, defeating England by a staggering 100 runs in the final held in Harare on Friday.
The victory also set a new world record for the largest margin of victory by runs in a U19 World Cup final.
The final was dominated by 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who delivered a sensational 80-ball 175, blazing his way through the English bowling attack and laying the foundation for India’s imposing total of 411/9 in 50 overs.
Captain Ayush Mhatre praised Suryavanshi’s performance as a “once-in-a-generation innings” and guided the team with calm leadership throughout the tournament.
England fought back valiantly, with Caleb Falconer scoring a blistering 115 off 67 balls, but the target proved insurmountable, and they were bowled out well short. India’s bowlers, led by pacer Raghav Kapoor, ensured England never gained momentum.
This triumph marks India’s undefeated run through the tournament, highlighting the depth of talent in the country’s youth cricket system.
India now holds the record for most U19 World Cup titles, cementing its dominance on the global youth cricket stage.
