Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the third T20 International against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, as the hosts look to complete a clean sweep in the three-match series.
Pakistan already hold an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, having dominated the opening two matches with disciplined bowling and improved batting performances.
The series has marked a strong comeback for Pakistan in the shortest format, especially after mixed results in recent international outings.
Speaking at the toss, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha confirmed three changes to the playing XI. Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafay and pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi were brought into the final lineup as the team looked to test its bench strength while maintaining momentum.
Salman said the decision to bat first was influenced by pitch conditions and the desire to put scoreboard pressure on the visitors. He also highlighted Pakistan’s bowling depth, particularly in spin.
“We have five world-class spinners in the squad, which gives us a lot of flexibility,” the captain said, expressing confidence in his team’s balance.
Australia, meanwhile, will be aiming to salvage pride in the final match after struggling to counter Pakistan’s bowling attack in the series so far. The match is being played in front of a packed home crowd, adding to the significance of the contest.
