A small passenger aircraft crashed into a mountainous region in eastern Colombia near the Venezuelan border, resulting in the tragic deaths of all 15 people on board.
According to international media reports, the aircraft was en route from Cúcuta to Ocaña. Air Traffic Control (ATC) lost contact with the plane shortly before its scheduled landing. Following an intensive search, rescue agencies confirmed that the aircraft had gone down in a rugged, hilly area.
Authorities have confirmed that the victims include 13 passengers and two crew members. Among the deceased is a prominent member of the Colombian Congress. Rescue teams reached the crash site shortly after the confirmation and have successfully completed the recovery of the bodies.
Initial investigations suggest that severe weather conditions in the mountainous corridor may have been the primary cause of the disaster. However, Colombian aviation authorities stated that a full investigation is underway.
