In a significant development, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has officially announced a successful gas discovery at the Tabree-1 well, located in the Kalchas South Block in Dera Bugti, Balochistan.
This marks the first successful discovery within the Kalchas South Block, signaling a promising boost for national gas output.
The well was spudded last year and drilled to a total depth of 7,170 feet.
Initial testing results have recorded a gas flow of up to 11 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
Further testing and analytical processes are underway to determine the well’s full production potential.
Strategic Importance
This discovery is poised to play a vital role in enhancing local gas supplies, cutting the import bill, and strengthening national energy security.
The project is a collaborative effort involving United Energy Pakistan Limited as the operator, with Mari Petroleum and Dewan Petroleum as joint venture partners.
This breakthrough reflects Pakistan’s commitment to effectively tapping into its hydrocarbon resources and expanding local energy capacity.
Facilitated by the SIFC, this discovery in Balochistan represents a positive step toward industrial growth and economic stability.
