Mother-in-law of detained rights activist Imaan Mazari has claimed that she is pregnant and was subjected to mistreatment while in custody.
Speaking publicly to journalist Mutiullah Jan, she claimed that she was forcibly taken into a vehicle, handled roughly, and deprived of food following her arrest.
The family has expressed serious concern for both Mazari’s health and that of her unborn child.
Authorities have not yet responded to the allegations.

The District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad on Saturday sentenced rights activist Imaan Mazari and her husband, lawyer Hadi Ali Chatha, to 17 years in prison each in a case linked to controversial social media posts.
In a written order, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka stated that the prosecution had “proved its case against both the accused” under sections 9 (glorification of an offence), 10 (cyberterrorism), and 26-A (false and fake information) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The case originated from a complaint filed on 12 August 2025 with the National Counter Terrorism Authority’s Cyber Crime wing (NCCIA) in Islamabad.
