The Punjab government has decided to provide free travel on the Metro Bus, Orange Line Train, and Green Line for the public during Basant on February 6, 7, and 8.
During a review meeting of the Basant Festival in Lahore, the Chief Minister of Punjab said that one million motorcycles will be provided with free safety wires for Basant. Free transport will be available for three days, and two control rooms are also being set up.
The Chief Minister said that all institutions are working to make Basant safe, and an excellent plan has been prepared in terms of monitoring and traffic management. She said people had been pushed toward unrest, and the Punjab government will restore joy to the people.
She added that using illegal kite strings during Basant will result in a five-year prison sentence and a fine. Motorcycles without safety rods will not be allowed to enter red zones.
Maryam Nawaz said that Basant is a 500-year-old festival. Punjab’s culture will be highlighted in a vibrant manner.
The Basant Festival will begin on the night of February 6, and during this time, Clinic on Wheels, ambulances, and fire brigade staff will remain on high alert.
