The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to include Scotland as a replacement from Bangladesh for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after days of communicating with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the apex governing body gave a deadline of one day to confirm their participation, Indian media reported on Friday.
Indian media reports indicate that the ICC is likely to make an official announcement on the matter in the coming days.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had sent another letter to the ICC concerning the T20 World Cup. According to sources, this letter addressed Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and reiterated the board’s refusal to travel to India.
Reports further revealed that the BCB requested the ICC to forward the issue of Bangladesh’s participation and its decision not to visit India to the ICC Independent Dispute Resolution Committee for review.
In the correspondence, the BCB also sought the relocation of Bangladesh’s World Cup matches, reaffirming its stance on the matter. The board emphasized that their decision to not send the team to India remains firm.
Following a decision made a day earlier, sources say the BCB reached out to the ICC once again, maintaining its refusal to send the national team to India.
