Karachi: Authorities have announced a temporary suspension of water supply in the city starting tomorrow due to annual maintenance work at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, which supplies water to Karachi.
According to details, K-Electric has issued a schedule for an 11 kV shutdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station.
A spokesperson for K-Electric said the annual maintenance work would be completed on 23 January, during which feeders supplying power to the second and third phase pump houses at the station will remain shut.
The power outage will continue from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, resulting in disruption to water supply across the city for approximately eight and a half hours. K-Electric said the shutdown is expected to reduce water supply by around 60 million gallons.
Under normal circumstances, the city receives about 650 million gallons of water daily; however, despite the temporary shortfall, around 590 million gallons will continue to be supplied.
Water supply may be partially affected in some areas of Lyari, Saddar and Chanesar Town. K-Electric has urged residents to use water sparingly during the shutdown to ensure that available resources remain sufficient.
