US President Donald Trump has issued an open threat to the Islamic resistance group Hamas, warning that if it does not surrender its weapons, it will be completely destroyed in the same manner as Hezbollah.
Speaking during a question-and-answer session after his address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President Trump said the coming days would make it clear whether Hamas honors the commitments it has made.
Adopting an extremely harsh tone, Trump stated that if Hamas refuses to disarm, the United States will take full and decisive action.
He warned that failure to comply would result in Hamas being destroyed very quickly, leaving it completely wiped out.
The US president added that the same strategy previously used against Hezbollah would be applied to Hamas.
According to Trump, whatever action is required, as was the case with Hezbollah, will be taken, and the United States is prepared to go to any extent to protect its interests and allies.
It is worth mentioning that Trump had announced the formation of a Gaza Peace Board, aimed at exploring pathways to end the conflict and stabilize the region. The body is expected to engage regional and international stakeholders while assessing security, humanitarian, and reconstruction-related measures for Gaza.
