Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has imposed a two-month ban on dumping garbage into stormwater drains under Section 144.
According to details, the Karachi Commissioner’s Office has issued a notification enforcing a complete prohibition on throwing waste into drains. Violators will face criminal cases and arrest.
As per the notification, dumping debris and garbage into drains will remain strictly banned from 22 January to 22 March.
The commissioner has directed authorities to immediately register cases and arrest anyone found violating the order.
The notification states that SHOs will be responsible for registering cases under Section 144 against offenders. The ban will remain in force for two months.
The restriction applies to all citizens, including waste pickers, scrap dealers and the general public across Karachi.
