Families of those missing in the Gul Plaza tragedy returned to the site on Thursday for the sixth consecutive day, chanting slogans against the authorities and expressing deep distress.
Women from the affected families, present near the site, said they have been desperately searching for their loved ones since the incident, but the rescue operation remains slow and no satisfactory answers are being provided.
They strongly criticised the conduct of the administration and rescue teams, stating that work on parts of the debris has yet to be completed, leaving them in an extremely agonising situation.
During the protest, women chanted slogans against the authorities on MA Jinnah Road and attempted to enter the affected building. Police intervened in time and moved them away from the site.
Family members gathered outside Gul Plaza carrying photographs of their missing relatives and also directed strong criticism at officials of the management committee.
They said that despite six days having passed, their children were still buried under the rubble.
The protesting women demanded, in grief and anger, that the rescue operation be completed immediately so that the missing persons could be located, alive or dead.
