Pakistan is considering a boycott of the ICC T20 World Cup following the rejection of Bangladesh’s request to move its matches out of India.
Sources state that if Bangladesh refuses to participate in the World Cup, there is a strong possibility that Pakistan will also boycott the tournament.
Bangladesh is expected to make a final decision today regarding its participation in the T20 World Cup. While several senior players in the Bangladesh team are in favor of participating, the Bangladeshi government will take the players into confidence today.
It is worth noting that on Thursday, the ICC formally rejected Bangladesh’s request, stating that if Bangladesh wishes to play in the World Cup, it must play its matches in the host country, India.
According to a cricket website, in the event that Bangladesh does not travel to India, the ICC is considering including another team as a replacement.
Solidarity with Bangladesh could lead to a dual-nation boycott.
