Pakistan faces a serious child nutrition crisis, with malnutrition rates at 40.2% stunting, 28.9% underweight, and 17.7% wasting, making it the second-highest burden country in the region.
To address this, the Benazir Nashonuma Program, designed by the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), provides conditional cash transfers to encourage the use of health and nutrition services for pregnant and lactating women. After a successful pilot in 14 districts, the program has expanded nationwide and now operates in 158 districts with 512 Nashonuma Centres, including mobile sites.
