Three-time world champion Mohammad Asif suffered a narrow 4–3 defeat after a thrilling and closely contested match at the 50th National Snooker Championship, while Shah Khan caused a major upset by defeating former Asian champion Mohammad Sajjad 4–2.
The championship, currently under way at the NBP Sports Complex snooker gymnasium hall, has now progressed into the pre-quarter-final round.
In other matches, Khizar Aziz defeated Sohaib Asad, Abdul Javed overcame Aakash Rafiq, Waseem Abbas beat Ali Zaman Khan, Shahid Aftab defeated Mohammad Yousuf, Mudassar Yaqoob outplayed Daniyal Shehzad, M. Faizan defeated M. Farhan, Owaisullah Munir beat Zulfiqar A. Qadir, M. Shehbaz defeated Shahzaib Rafiq, while Brijesh Khan overcame Aftab Baig.
