Ashley St. Clair, the mother of one of Elon Musk’s children, has sued Musk’s xAI, alleging that explicit images were generated of her by Grok AI tool.
According to the complaint, X users retrieved photographs of Ms St Clair taken when she was 14 years old and asked Grok to digitally undress her. The chatbot allegedly complied with those requests.
“xAI’s product Grok, a generative artificial intelligence (‘AI’) chatbot, uses AI to undress, humiliate, and sexually exploit victims,” the lawsuit, which was filed in New York, reads.
A lawsuit filed in New York on Thursday alleges that the Grok AI tool generated sexually explicit images of Ms St Clair. She is seeking both compensatory and punitive damages, claiming that dozens of degrading deepfake images were created by the chatbot.
The lawsuit follows xAI’s confirmation on Wednesday that Grok would no longer edit images of real people in revealing clothing on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X.
The move came after widespread backlash, when the chatbot was found to be complying with user requests to create deepfake nude images of adults and, in some cases, children.
