Australia has formally introduced a globally recognized secondary school qualification in Pakistan, marking a major step in expanding international education pathways for local students.
For Pakistani students, the qualification is particularly a major step as it is considered equivalent to national senior secondary standards, enabling direct entry into leading universities both within Pakistan and abroad.
“Australia is delighted to launch the Western Australian Certificate of Education in Pakistan, giving students an Australian school qualification at home, with pathways to universities and opportunities around the world,” Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane said in a post on X.

Known as the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), the program is administered by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), an independent body operating under the Government of Western Australia. According to the program’s official website, WACE is a prestigious international credential designed for senior secondary education and is recognized worldwide for its academic rigor.
Students enrolled in the programmer receive a unique Western Australian Student Identification Number (SIN) along with official certification from SCSA, enhancing their academic profile and global credibility.
In addition, the initiative creates opportunities for student exchange programs and graduation pathways in Western Australia. High-performing students may also qualify for merit-based scholarships, including a government bursary valued at up to AU$20,000.
