Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film O’ Romeo has landed in the spotlight even before its release, but for unexpected reasons.
While the intense teaser of the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial recently generated strong buzz, the makers have now cancelled the much-anticipated trailer launch event due to security concerns.
According to reports by Pinkvilla, the decision was taken after the late gangster Hussain Ustara’s daughter, Sanober Shaikh, allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from the film’s team. In view of the situation, the producers chose to call off the public trailer launch to avoid any potential risk. As of now, there is no official word on when or how the trailer will be released.
O’ Romeo is a romantic action drama set in post-Independence Mumbai, exploring the intersection of love, crime, and power in a rapidly changing city. Shahid Kapoor plays the lead role in the gritty gangster drama, which also stars Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, and Aruna Irani in pivotal roles.
Written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Rohan Narula, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on February 13, 2026, just ahead of Valentine’s Day.
On the work front, Shahid was last seen in Deva and is currently shooting for Cocktail 2 alongside Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.
