The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) officially denied reports of an impending nationwide internet slowdown or shutdown.
The clarification responded to widespread social media claims that services would be disrupted on January 15, 2026.
Internet services across Pakistan remain stable and fully operational.
While routine maintenance on a submarine cable is ongoing, the PTA stated this will not affect internet service or connectivity for users.
Major upstream providers, including PTCL and Transworld Home, are functioning normally without any service degradation.
The authority dismissed claims of a planned suspension as incorrect and without factual basis, urging the public to rely only on official PTA notifications.
Despite these assurances, some private internet service providers like Nayatel had previously notified customers of potential slowness due to maintenance by upstream providers between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM on January 15.
The PTA maintain that these activities are managed to ensure no disruption to the end user.
