Syed Iqrar-ul-Hassan, the host of ARY News’ “Sar-e-Aam,” officially launched a new political movement called Awam Raj Tehreek (People’s Rule Movement) today, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
The movement aims to establish a democratic platform owned by the people of Pakistan rather than specific families or individuals.
Hassan emphasized that the party will not follow hereditary politics. Instead, leadership roles, from local union councils to the central chairmanship, will be decided through internal elections and merit.
He clarified that he will not be a candidate for any government office, such as prime minister, but intends to provide a platform for educated youth and the common man to rise to power.
He described the current political system as “the world’s largest dictatorship” and stated that his movement would focus on creating a “true Naya Pakistan” by challenging personality-driven politics.
The process begins with the formation of administrative committees across the country, which will eventually transition into a fully organized political party through open voting.
