Flour prices have increased across Punjab, including Lahore, following a sharp rise in wheat prices, making the 20-kilogram flour bag scarce in the provincial capital.
According to details, the price of wheat has risen by Rs700 per maund across Punjab. As a result, the 20-kg flour bag has become increasingly difficult to find in several areas of Lahore, placing it beyond the reach of many consumers.
The price of a 10-kg flour bag has surged to as high as Rs905.
In various cities, a 15-kg flour bag, which was previously sold for around Rs1,500, is now being sold for up to Rs1,750.
Over the past ten days alone, the price of wheat has jumped from Rs3,700 to Rs4,400 per maund. In Lahore, wheat is currently being sold at Rs4,450 per maund.
Wheat prices have climbed further in other cities, with rates reaching Rs4,500 per maund in Gujranwala and Gujrat.
In Rawalpindi, wheat is being sold at Rs4,800 per maund, while in Multan the price has reached Rs4,450 per maund.
The continued increase in wheat and flour prices has raised concerns over a potential rise in bread prices as well, adding to the financial strain on households already grappling with rising food costs.
