The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) began the week on a negative note, as selling pressure pushed the benchmark KSE-100 Index down by over 300 points in early trading on Monday.
At 11:15am, the benchmark index was trading at 184,109.12, down 300.55 points or 0.16%.
Selling activity was observed in several key sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, chemicals, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, OMCs, power generation, and refineries.
In the previous week, Pakistan’s equity market maintained robust upward momentum, fueled by sustained domestic buying, easing monetary conditions, and favorable global cues.
The KSE-100 Index gained 5,375 points, or 3% week-on-week, closing at 184,410 points, continuing its positive trajectory into the start of calendar year 2026.
In currency markets, the Pakistani rupee appreciated 0.08% against the US dollar during the opening minutes of trading in the inter-bank market on Monday. By 10 AM, the local currency stood at 279.80, gaining Rs 0.22 against the greenback.
