The Deputy Commissioner of Karachi East has granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) permission to hold a public rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah, subject to a comprehensive set of security, legal and administrative conditions.
According to the official order, PTI is required to comply with all laws currently in force, including strict adherence to the Loudspeakers Ordinance.
Authorities have directed that the rally must not cause obstruction or inconvenience to the general public, while entry and exit points are to be restricted to a single designated location to ensure crowd control.
The organisers have been instructed to deploy trained volunteers to conduct security checks of participants.
In addition, the Bomb Disposal Squad will inspect the premises prior to the event, and the organisers will be responsible for facilitating rooftop security arrangements as well as the use of metal detectors and explosive-detection equipment.
To maintain transparency and accountability, the entire event must be video-recorded from start to finish, with a copy of the recording to be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office the following day.
The organisers will also be held responsible for any untoward incident arising from law and order situations.
The order further states that no sectarian or objectionable speeches will be allowed during the rally. Speakers are strictly prohibited from delivering remarks against the Ideology of Pakistan, the Pakistan Armed Forces, or from promoting hatred, extremism, or disharmony among communities.
Authorities have also directed that the programme must conclude by midnight, and the organisers will be liable for any damage caused to the venue.
The permission reflects the administration’s effort to balance the right to political assembly with public safety and law and order considerations.
