Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced that it will also resume flights from Lahore to London starting in March.
According to a notification issued on Thursday, PIA said that the first flight, PK-757, will depart from Lahore for London on March 30. As per the press release, flights from Lahore will land at Terminal 4 of Heathrow Airport.
The national flag carrier added that with the launch of these flights, PIA’s total weekly flights to the UK will increase to seven.
It is worth noting that there had been no direct flights between Pakistan and London’s northern airports since 2020. Prior to the ban, PIA was operating 10 weekly flights from Pakistan to London.
Last December, after a six-year hiatus, PIA announced the resumption of flights from Islamabad to London starting March 29. According to the notification, the national airline will operate four weekly flights from Heathrow Airport’s state-of-the-art Terminal 4.
Earlier, in October, PIA also restored direct flights to Manchester after a five-year suspension. This resumption became possible after the UK removed PIA from its “air safety list” on July 16.
It is noteworthy that the Government of Pakistan completed the sale of 75% of the national airline’s shares for Rs135 billion last Tuesday, marking the culmination of years-long efforts to privatize the loss-making carrier.
