In an astonishing incident, a singer was booked in Lahore for performing a song titled ‘Qaidi No. 804’, the prison number of former PM Imran Khan, during a government-sponsored cultural event at the Shalimar Gardens.
Mr. Zameerul Hasan, who is the in-charge of Shalimar Gardens, alleged in the FIR that singer Faraz Khan deliberately tried to exploit the cultural event and provoke the audience, as the song was linked to a specific political party.
He added that the Walled City of Lahore Authority had organized a music and cultural night, which was intended to be non-political.
However, he claimed that the singer and his companions performed the politically associated song in response to audience demand.
Hasan told the police that the suspect should have been mindful that the event was open to the public and attended by people with varying political affiliations.
