The Sindh Bar Council has announced a boycott of courts across the province on Wednesday in protest against the registration of a case against lawyers.
Meanwhile, lawyers in Karachi had already announced a strike at the City Court today after an FIR was not registered against YouTuber Rajab Butt.
President of the Karachi Bar Association, Aamir Waraich, said that no police official would be allowed to enter the City Court today.
He added that the protest would continue until a case is registered against Rajab Butt on the application filed by the lawyers.
The lawyers have called an emergency meeting at the City Court at 11 a.m. today. According to the Karachi Bar president, further courses of action will be announced after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Bar Council issued a statement condemning the registration of a case against lawyers on the complaint of Rajab Butt’s lawyer. The statement said that the Bar Council believes the FIR against the lawyers has ulterior motives.
The Sindh Bar Council demanded that the IG Sindh immediately register a case against Rajab Butt and others and take action against those responsible for registering the case against the lawyers. It also announced a province-wide boycott of courts today in protest against the FIR lodged against lawyers.
The Malir Bar Association has also condemned the registration of the case against the lawyers.
Earlier, the president of the Karachi Bar said that a case had been registered against the lawyers and that an FIR should also be registered on the lawyers’ complaint. He warned that if the FIR is not registered, the scope of the protest will be expanded.
Lawyers also staged a protest outside the City Court on MA Jinnah Road, which disrupted traffic flow on MA Jinnah Road and surrounding streets.
It may be recalled that on Monday, a case was registered against more than 15 lawyers over the alleged assault on YouTuber Rajab Butt at the City Court.
The FIR was lodged at the City Court police station by Rajab Butt’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq Advocate. The case includes charges of assault, physical violence, issuing death threats, and other sections of the law. Riyaz Ali Solangi, Fateh Chandio, and others have been nominated in the case.
The FIR also states that Rs 300,000 belonging to Rajab Butt went missing during the incident.
It is noteworthy that on Monday, YouTuber Rajab Butt had arrived at the City Court for the hearing of his interim bail. Another YouTuber, Nadeem Naniwala, was also accompanying him when lawyers allegedly assaulted Rajab Butt within the City Court premises.

The lawyers claim that after a previous hearing, YouTuber Rajab Butt used abusive and inappropriate language against lawyers in his vlog.
The lawyers have demanded the registration of cases against Rajab Butt, his lawyer, and another YouTuber.
