The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has arrested 12 terrorists allegedly linked to the Indian intelligence agency RAW and recovered a large cache of weapons. The terrorists reportedly planned to carry out terrorist attacks in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.
According to a CTD Punjab spokesperson, the arrested terrorists were found in possession of a substantial amount of weapons, explosives, detonators, IEDs, cash, mobile phones, and 102 feet of safety fuse wire. In total, seven IEDs and two detonators were seized.
The CTD added that sensitive photos, videos, and location data of terrorists, intelligence agencies, a madrassa, and a fair were also recovered from the suspects, which were allegedly intended for planning terrorist activities.
The spokesperson said that those arrested from Lahore include Sukh Deep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, Nabeel, Abrar, Usman, and Sarfraz, while Danish was apprehended from Faisalabad. From Bahawalpur, the arrested individuals include Rajab, Hashim, Saqib, and Arif.
According to the CTD, Sukh Deep Singh was a born Christian who had converted his religion some time ago. All the arrested suspects were reportedly receiving significant funding from RAW.
The spokesperson said that the arrest was facilitated by intelligence pointing to a Facebook ID named Adil, allegedly working in support of RAW.
CTD Punjab said that the suspects planned to spread fear and incite religious hatred in Punjab.
CTD Punjab further added that cases have been registered against the arrested Fathna-e-Hindustan terrorists, and further investigations are underway.
