Following recent incidents in Karachi, all open manholes in Islamabad have been covered to ensure public safety.
Under special instructions from the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) took immediate action, completing an emergency operation to secure open manholes across all union councils of the city.
According to an MCI spokesperson, the Chief Officer had instructed all union council secretaries to immediately secure any uncovered manholes to prevent accidents involving residents.
Following these directives, field teams from the union councils acted swiftly and installed covers on all identified open manholes, ensuring they were fully secured.
MCI has also urged citizens to report any uncovered manholes in their areas to the relevant union council so that timely action can be taken.
