Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Corporation has released its statement on the tragic death of a toddler who fell into a manhole in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, on Sunday night.

The KWS&B in its statement made it clear that there is no system of the authority located at the spot where the sad incident took place.
The body of the three-year-old boy who fell into an open manhole near NIPA Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area was recovered from a drain one kilometer away, 14 hours after the tragic incident.
Heavy machinery, provided by government agencies, has now arrived at the site of the incident, and University Road has been reopened for traffic.
Earlier, rescue workers had complained that they did not receive heavy machinery from any institution, and the strong water flow inside the manhole made the search for the child extremely difficult. Rescue officials said that despite using machinery for excavation and deploying divers, the child was not found at the time.
