The cold and dry northeastern winds intensified on Friday in Karachi, leading to a major drop in the temperature as the chilly weather to continue until Sunday in the southern port city.
Visibility dropped to 3 kilometers due to light fog, while wind speed was recorded at 36 km per hour.
The unusually strong north-easterly winds blowing in the city have increased the chill, leading to a higher use of warm clothing.
The Meteorological Department reported that for the second consecutive day on Friday, winds stronger than normal were recorded, with a maximum speed of 36 km/h. In the morning, light fog caused visibility to reduce to 3 kilometers; however, visibility improved once the sun came out.
The Early Warning Center said that due to the cool and dry north-easterly winds, the weather is expected to remain dry during the day and cold in the morning and at night. Slightly stronger-than-usual winds may continue until Sunday.
On Friday, the north-easterly winds caused a slight drop in overall temperatures (morning and night). The lowest temperature recorded on Friday was 9°C in Khairpur.
