Details of the Outage
A massive rush of fans attempting to stream the new episodes simultaneously overwhelmed the platform’s servers.
Downdetector, a service that tracks online outages, registered a spike of almost 14,000 user reports around 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET, the exact moment the episodes were released in the United States.
Users saw error messages such as “Something went wrong” or “Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request.”
A Netflix representative confirmed that service was fully restored for all affected users within minutes.
