A gas pipeline exploded in the Hassan Khel tehsil of Peshawar, causing a fire in a 24-inch gas pipeline, while gas utility suspends gas supply for public safety.
Sui Northern Gas General Manager Waqas Shinwari said that a gas pipeline explosion occurred in
Hassan Khel, Peshawar. The blast took place on the Karak-to-Nowshera gas pipeline.
He said that due to the explosion, gas supply to consumers in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, and Swat will be affected. Teams have been dispatched to the area to shut down the gas supply.
According to Waqas Shinwari, the cause of the explosion is not yet known; the site will be examined.
On the other hand, CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed said that the nature of the explosion is being investigated. Residents of the area have been advised to stay away from the fire, and Sui Gas officials have been instructed to cut off the gas supply.
Police sources say that the possibility of terrorism in the gas pipeline explosion is also being examined.
