Strongly condemning Israeli bombardment on Palestinians in Gaza in which scores of women and children perished, Pakistan on Sunday said that recent attacks were not only blatant violation of international laws but also of the peace accord reached at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Foreign Office Spokesman Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that Pakistan demanded the international community to force Israel to stop violations of the ceasefire.
The spokesman stressed the need for taking immediate steps for the protection of human rights and compliance with international laws.
He reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance that there should be an independent and autonomous Palestinian state.
Israel has begun to tear apart the Gaza ceasefire plan, as new ground assaults were launched by Israeli forces across the Yellow Line in the enclave.
Israeli air strikes killed another twenty-four Palestinians, while a drone attack killed eleven more people and injured twenty others.
Since October 10, a total of 318 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks.
Earlier in the day, AFP reported that Gaza’s civil defence agency said twenty-one people were killed and dozens more wounded in multiple Israeli air strikes on Saturday, as Hamas and Israel again traded accusations of violating the fragile truce.
Saturday marked one of the deadliest days since the US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, ending two years of war.
The Israeli military said an “armed terrorist” crossed the so-called Yellow Line in Gaza, a zone behind which Israeli troops had withdrawn, and opened fire on soldiers.
In response to the incident in southern Gaza, which occurred along a route designated for humanitarian aid deliveries, the Israeli military announced it had “begun striking terror targets in the Gaza Strip”.
