Bollywood franchise “Masti 4” has bombed at the box office immediately upon its release. Indian media reports suggest that the film’s reliance on sexual jokes fails to elicit laughter and instead causes continuous embarrassment.
“Masti 4” released today in Indian cinemas, and media outlets have speculated that it might be the last installment in the franchise. The film’s poor performance has been described as a “crash landing” at the box office.
The movie features Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani, whose ages have drawn sharp criticism from Indian media. According to reports, while the actors seemed youthful twenty years ago, that is no longer the case, which may have contributed to the film’s poor reception.
Furthermore, the media notes that all three actors appear visibly older, with thinning hair, fuller faces, minimal wit, and jokes that are reportedly cruder than ever.
Arshad Warsi and Nargis Fakhri also appear in the film, portraying characters involved in extramarital affairs, which include inappropriate interactions despite being married. The movie also hints at homosexuality.
Indian media has criticized the film for targeting older individuals, married people, and adults of all kinds, but failing to deliver genuine humor. Ultimately, whether audiences enjoy the film is left to individual taste, as the jokes intended to make people laugh reportedly fall flat.
