KARACHI: Authorities in District South have imposed a complete ban on the sale, purchase, and transfer of illegal portions and unauthorized additional floors, following growing concerns over widespread violations of building rules in several neighbourhoods.
According to the district administration, illegal property transactions—particularly in Lyari, Garden, Old City areas, and parts of Clifton—have been taking place in clear violation of approved building plans, completion certificates, and Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) regulations.
Officials said a number of real estate agents and property dealers were found promoting and marketing such illegal portions within residential plots, an act that not only breaches building laws but also constitutes a criminal offence.
In line with orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Sindh High Court, the administration has declared these activities illegal and has issued strict directives to halt them immediately.
The notification states that all realtors and property dealers are prohibited from engaging in the sale, purchase, or advertisement of illegal portions and unauthorized floors. Sub-Registrars of District South have also been instructed not to entertain any sub-leasing or registration of such properties under any circumstances.
Authorities warned that any violation of the directives would result in strict legal and administrative action against those involved.
The district administration has advised all registered real estate agents to conduct due diligence and thoroughly verify documents before entering into any property transaction. Any realtor found facilitating illegal deals will be held accountable under the law, officials added.
