In the final of the Snooker World Cup, England’s Harvey Chandler defeated Pakistan’s cueist Asjad Iqbal to become the new world champion.
The IBSF Snooker World Cup, being held in Muscat, Oman, was won by England’s Harvey Chandler, who claimed the title by beating Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal 5–2 in the final.
According to Naveed Kapadia, Secretary General of the Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association and the head referee of the championship, Harvey Chandler secured the title after an impressive victory over Asjad Iqbal in the deciding match.
The English cueist won with frame scores of 0–83, 66–16, 29–95, 8–16, 86–3, 37–65, and 15–70. During the match, Chandler also produced remarkable breaks of 52 and 67.
Earlier in the semi-final, Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal had defeated France’s Nicolas Mortreux 5–2 to secure his place in the final.
