The weekly inflation rate across the country has reached 4.15%, while short-term inflation recorded a 0.53% increase on a week-on-week basis, according to weekly inflation report of the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
According to the report, the prices of 15 essential items increased during the week, 12 items became cheaper, and the prices of 24 items remained stable.
Within a week, chicken became costlier by 20.33%, tomatoes by 12.03%, and bananas by 2.32%. Prices of potatoes rose by 1.08%, and cooking oil became 0.38% more expensive.
During the same period, the prices of lentils (masoor), beef, mutton, LPG, and firewood also increased. The report noted that onions became cheaper by 6.65% and chickpea lentils (dal chana) by 2.61%, while prices of jaggery, flour, moong dal, and mash dal also declined during the week.
Last week, the surge in inflation that had persisted for five consecutive weeks has come to a halt, with a recorded reduction of 0.59% in the weekly inflation rate.
