Indian media claimed that Bollywood legend Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89. Social media users expressed deep sorrow and grief over the rumors of the senior artist’s death.
According to Indian media, the senior artist, who was born on December 8, 1935, under the name Dharam Singh Deol and adopted the name Dharmendra in the film industry, passed away during the early hours of Tuesday.

Dharmendra was facing medical complications due to breathing difficulties as well as old age, because of which the senior artist had been admitted to the hospital since November 1.
Actor Dharmendra began his film career in 1960 with the movie ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ and remained very active in Bollywood from the 1960s through the 1980s and 1990s. His most active period was from 1960 to 1985, after which he occasionally appeared in films in the 2000s, such as ‘Life in a… Metro’ (2007) and the ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ series (2011).
Dharmendra was also known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood because he became famous for his strong physique and action-packed roles. He mostly worked in action, drama, romance, and comedy films.
In the 1960s and 1970s, he was considered the king of action films, with hits such as ‘Phool Aur Patthar’ (1966), ‘Ankhen’ (1968), ‘Sholay’ (1975), in which he played the role of Veeru, ‘Charas’ (1976), and ‘Dharam Veer’ (1977).
Dharmendra’s on-screen pairing with Hema Malini was very popular, and they worked together in several romantic films, including ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ (1972), ‘Dream Girl’ (1977), and ‘Sholay’ (1975).
