Supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with party founder Imran Khan’s sisters, staged a sit-in on Adiala Road after being denied a meeting with him.
The protest was led by Aleema Khan, accompanied by Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Khan, who sat on the road along with other workers.
According to Rawalpindi Police, the protesters were contained to a limited area to maintain traffic flow on Adiala Road. The demonstrators chanted slogans and demanded a meeting with the PTI founder.
During the protest, Aleema Khan, party workers, and police came face-to-face at the Factory Naka checkpoint, where Aleema and her companions attempted to march towards Adiala Jail. Police blocked their way, forming a human line to stop them.
Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Moin Qureshi also arrived at the Adiala Road sit-in to express solidarity with the protesters.
Meanwhile, Barrister Salman Akram Raja reached Adiala Road to meet the PTI founder but was stopped by police at Dahgal Naka. The senior lawyer became visibly angry and exchanged heated words with police officials.
He said, “For the past seven months, the treatment we have faced is in front of everyone. The Islamabad High Court itself is complicit in this contempt of court. We have submitted dozens of petitions, yet not a single clear order has been issued. No one has been held accountable.”
Barrister Raja further added, “Who has ordered you to stop us? Is this some kind of joke? Are you here in uniform to act like thugs? The Islamabad High Court should also hear this — no court has ever allowed its decisions to be so openly disrespected. The IHC itself is part of this contempt.”
