After approval from the upper house, i.e., the Senate, the bill for the 27th constitutional amendment will also be presented in the National Assembly today, where the government already has an edge over the opposition.
The National Assembly Secretariat has released the agenda for today’s session, according to which the 27th constitutional amendment will be presented in the lower house.
It is worth noting that the government has a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly, so it will not face any difficulty in getting the amendment approved.
Earlier, the Senate approved the 27th constitutional amendment yesterday with the support of 64 members. The Senate session started with a delay of almost half an hour.
The government had been maneuvering since morning to secure the required 64 votes needed for the constitutional amendment’s approval.
Due to the illness of PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui and the Senate Chairman not casting his vote, all eyes were on which two opposition members would deviate from their party policy.
