The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has opened applications for the Access to Scientific Instrumentation Program (ASIP) for 2025-26.
This program is designed to provide financial assistance to PhD scholars at public sector universities, allowing them to access advanced scientific and analytical facilities for their research.
The HEC’s ASIP offers funding up to Rs200,000 per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) for PhD scholars in public sector universities to conduct essential sample analysis using sophisticated scientific equipment.
The funding is paid directly by HEC to the service provider (the institution conducting the test) upon successful completion of the analysis. A scholar can receive a maximum of three disbursements throughout their entire PhD program, not exceeding the annual limit.
All tests must be performed at another public sector university or a recognized Research & Development (R&D) organization.
Who can apply?
Only PhD students enrolled in public sector universities in Pakistan.
Research Approval
The applicant’s research proposal must be officially approved by the university’s relevant forum (e.g., Ethical Review Board, Advanced Studies & Research Board).
Test Availability
Applicants can only request funding for tests that are not available at their own institution. If the equipment is available at their university, a strong justification for seeking access elsewhere must be provided.
Supervisor Limit
Supervisors can recommend a maximum of four ASIP applications within one fiscal year.
Application Deadline
Applications must be submitted at least twelve weeks before the proposed date for sample analysis to allow for timely processing.
