A case has been registered against 13 additional officers of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on charges of extorting millions of rupees from call centers.
The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad filed the case, which includes the names of NCCIA Additional Directors from Rawalpindi and several other officials.
According to the FIR, a middleman who allegedly negotiated with the call centers and a foreign national have also been named in the case.
The text of the complaint states that officials collected millions of rupees in extortion from 15 illegal call centers operating in Sector F-11, Islamabad. It further alleges that NCCIA officers had been receiving large sums on a monthly basis from these call centers.
As per the report, one of the accused acted as a frontman for the officials and collected money from a woman, who allegedly paid millions of rupees for the release of 13 foreign nationals and her husband.
Investigators said the prime suspect previously served as Director of NCCIA Sindh.
